My mother got Verizon DSL for her computer, and I'm dropping Comcast for it (mostly cause it's cheaper). They sent us the model, filters, blah blah. Everything hooks up to her computer, the net runs fine for her, all is well.
So, I go in there and hook in a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router. I get all the connections in, and no internet. Now I don't claim to be a know-it-all when it comes to networking, but I'm sure I did everything right. We used the router to get her computer to run Comcast cable. All I did was plug it in, reboot the modem, and it would work fine. Not so with DSL, it seems.
So can ANYONE help? Please?

Long story short, your DSL modem, until properly reset, may only work with your mother's computer (and her MAC Address). Check over how to reboot the DSL modem so it will seek a new Mac Address (from the router) as it might be different than rebooting the cable modem.
You could also try having it connected to your computer forcing your computer to allow it.
