Sooooooo the latest controversy has happened over on good ol' FurAffinity, prompting everyone to start arguing and barking like a dog pound that smells a cat. I'm not going to go into EXTREME detail on what's going on, but I'll try to give a brief TL;DR version. FA suffered a DDOS attack, which resulted in servers literally breaking themselves. DURING the attack, Dragoneer started asking for donations to pay for new hardware. Oh, and back taxes he hasn't paid.

I'm not going to point fingers on this. However, I will make clear my reasons for leaving FA when I did, since I do still get a few people every now and then asking why my main FA page is disabled.
1. I got tired of the bi-annual Sonic witch hunts. Admins targeting adult Sonic artists and either removing their art completely or outright banning them.
2. The decisions made by the staff when it comes to how the site is run and who it hires as mods or admins is questionable.
3. We were promised software upgrades and improved site functions, yet the site still looks and runs the same as it did in 2007.

Now, before I get assaulted with pro-FA users pointing out all the good things about the site, let me say this clearly and in caps. IF YOU SUPPORT FURAFFINITY, GOOD FOR YOU. I'm happy that you support Dragoneer and the staff, and I wish more sites out there had that level of dedication put into them. I do not support it anymore, so please respect that.

So, I packed up my things and I left the site. My art is STILL up there, as all I did was disable my main user page. I made accounts on InkBunny and Weasyl, like so many others. And now, with this latest incident, so many people are complaining (with good reason) and being told "If you don't like it, leave.". To which their reply is "Leave...to where?"

WHY NOT INKBUNNY?
Because IB is a furry porn site. The key word there is PORN. If you're not drawing porn, you're not getting comments, views, or favs. And I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. Also, they have a strict "NO HUMANS ALLOWED" rule, which kind of limits what can and can't be posted there. So for me, someone who sometimes draws humans and doesn't draw porn all that much (once in a blue moon), I don't get the amount of traffic to keep it updated all that much. But I DO update it more than....well, you'll see in a moment.
REASONS FOR NOT GOING: No porn, no followers.

WHY NOT WEASYL?
Because there's literally no one there. Zero traffic. Oh sure, there's the occasional person or two who comments and favs a pic, but it's nowhere NEAR the levels of IB or FA. Which is a shame, because I REALLY like the site interface there. But for those of you from FA who rely on commissions for a living, switching fully to Weasyl would be suicide. If there were more active people on it, then it would be a different story, and I'd probably be a hell of a lot more active there. As it stands now, there's no drive for me to update until I start seeing more traffic.
REASONS FOR NOT GOING: Almost zero traffic.

Now, I don't know about other sites out there, simply because I never tried them. So I can't say anything good or bad about them. But I'll throw out one more tiny point, since some people do get confused about this.

WHY DO I STILL USE DEVIANTART?
Despite a few people on this site, it's still one of the most highly-used art sites on the internet. It's stable, as I can count on one hand how many times the site has gone down since 2004. There's LOTS of people on here who fav, comment, and will even commission artists for art. Granted, outright porn is still a no-no here, but for artists who don't want/need to draw it to do art, it's a nice place to be.

So, there you have it. There ARE sites out there for you FAers to switch to, but sadly, most of them have the problem of being either a porn-fest or having little to zero active users. Does this mean FA has a gun to your head, forcing you to stay on their badly-coded site? I suppose it can feel like that.
